The way you communicate with yourself is actually a form of self-hypnosis, and it can have a dramatic effect upon your health, self-esteem, and overall life experience. Each of your thoughts, whether positive ("I am important/successful/loved/ in control of my life/etc.") or negative ("I can't lose weight/stop smoking; I'm never going to...") become more deeply reinforced with each repetition. If you are able to alter the use of our words and thoughts, you may create a stronger positive response. Words can also be powerful triggers, evoking emotion by a reaction to them from any of your senses (i.e. the memory of a smell reminding someone of their grandmother’s kitchen, or the memory screeching brakes reminding someone of an accident). These, too, can be either positive or negative.
The following are examples of words that can be altered: TRY - Stop trying and allow yourself to be in the process of achieving something. IF - Change to: When (meaning you know that it shall be). GUILT - Avoid this word. You do not need to accept unhealthy guilt. REVENGE - Destroys you! Delete from your thoughts and vocabulary! REJECT - Rephrase to: I simply do not accept. ANGRY - Use terms: dislike or resolute or really don’t like. FEAR - It’s natural to have protective concern (Understanding removes fear). WORRY - Never worry. Simply change to: have concern. FAILURE - All of life is a learning process; perhaps you just haven’t found a way… yet. CAN’T - Not able to. Do not wish to, or simply do not want. (You have a choice!) HATE - Dislike immensely, or I simply do not choose to accept. DEMAND - Have needs (easier to accept by others, for desired gain). ANXIOUS - Eager (anxious could mean anxiety). WANT - Need (brings greater results). I need (for positive results). PROBLEM - Challenge, or personal challenge. TEST/EXAM - Review of what you already know, or have read/studied. CONCENTRATE - Think focus, or enjoy clear thinking. DIET - Weight management, or food plan. CANCER - Problem, or discomfort.
Remember, what you tell yourself in secret comes to pass!
What the mind expects to happen tends to be realized!
Once you change your inner dialogue, you change your reality!
